How to obtain clean water
- Assume all water is contaminated.
- Use bottled water if you had it before the and storm and it wasn't in flood waters.
- Disinfect the water container.
- Filter and disinfect water with household bleach and boiling the water.
- Purchase disinfecting tablets (at most sporting goods stores).
- Add common bleach to clear, filtered water.
- approximately 12 drops per quart
- let it stand for a few hours
- Fill bathtubs and large containers with water for washing and cleaning.
- Collect rain water fro washing, cleaning, and cooking. Be sure it is the cleanest possible.
